Can I just take 1mg Klonopin once daily instead of .5mg twice daily?

I’m supposed to take .5mg twice daily — once in the morning, and once about 8 hours later. This kind of seems unusual, as normally doses are divided equally throughout the day (ex: once every 12 hours, or once every 8 hours). Taking it at such an odd time means I will feel less of an effect from the first dose compared to the second, resulting in me anticipating the second dose so that I can be at the maximum level for the day, possibly increasing anxiety. Is it OK to just take 1mg once per day, especially if it’s more effective this way? It seems like there wouldn’t be a problem given the long half-life. I don’t want to take it 12 hours apart because I would be going to bed soon after the second dose, and since I don’t need it for sleep, the second dose would be a waste.
