Are men really from Mars and women from Venus?

Or is there “The One” concept for a couple out there?

No. As I stated in one of my previous answers to your questions, one of my favourite sayings is essentially:

Men are from Earth. Women are from Earth. Deal with it.

If you are unable to communicate, or understand the person you are with, you cannot blame it on gender. It is up to us and us alone to make an effort to understand the opposite gender, and to find a way to “connect”.

Remember that no two people are alike, and what may work while trying to connect with one person, may not work when trying to connect with another. Whether they are male or female has nothing to do with it. You will succeed only as far as you are willing to make an effort.

For example, a friend of mine complains that he cannot find true happiness and trust while with someone, yet he continually comments that “ALL women are liars, ALL women are shallow, ALL women are mean”, etc.. He will tell you that “every guy he knows thinks such-and-such” and when asked to explain who “every guy” is, he can only say, “just about every guy I know who I’ve talked to about relationships”. He cannot name anyone because this is *his* view. If someone says “every guy/girl is like this” and is asked for a name or two, the person will rattle off name after name after name until you tell them to be quiet. My guess is he has had a couple of college friends get hurt and heard them rant. I doubt he has ever asked an older, successful and happy married man, with a secure family… or even an unmarried man who is truly *happy* in life.

This same logic can be applied here, as well. You are alienating yourself from all of the beauty and laughter that this world can offer, by grouping everything into categories based upon one experience in which you were hurt.

If I were to place all men into the same category which my husband is in (because he is the only man I have truly known as well as I know him), and I were to treat every man I have met as though his mind works the same as my husband, I would be utterly baffled, and men may indeed end up seeming to be a species apart.

Yet I do not do this, with women *or* men. We are not all gingerbread men and women who will all fit into one cut-out, one flavour, one type. We are different, and what a wonderful thing that is! You have a chance to get out and connect with (and learn about) women who are both FROM and OF this Earth, and perhaps find some healing in that time.
