Terry Goodkind: What is a Confessor ?
I’m still relatively in the beginning of Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind, so, giving as few spoilers as possible (I’ve already stumbled upon a few myself), can you tell me what a Confessor is, does, and basic information like that? I’m afraid if I keep searching myself, I’m going to completely ruin the book. I’ve already uncovered a few details about Richard’s heritage >_<
A confessor is someone who has the ability to make people fall in love and be totally devoted to them, just by touching them with their power. This allows them to get people to confess to whatever crimes they have committed. It is awful because once you have touched someone with this power they will never be free of their devotion to you. Confessors manage to use their powers carefully but in situations where they loose control of their powers (and I won’t give you any examples otherwise it’ll lead to spoilers!) it can have devastating consequences.
I absolutely adore this book, its one of the few books I’ve read more than once. I definitely recommend the first four books of the series but after that it reached a point where I found them so depressing and samey that I gave up on them. First four are just brilliant though so don’t let that put you off!
