What is a good supplement to go with Harlan Teklad lab blocks for rats?

i’ve done alot of research on what to feed the rats im going to get soon. Almost all fingers point in Harlan Teklads 2018 lab block. Is this the right staple diet? And also what food should i feed in addition to the blocks? When and how much should i feed of it? Thanks

Harlan Teklad is known as one of the best foods available, actually! It is great if you can order it for your rats. It’s definitely one of the higher quality foods for rats.

You do not need any supplements at all, but you should supply your rats with a well rounded diet. They are omnivorous, so they should get vegetation, protein, grain, and a tiny bit of dairy for the calcium. The pellets will supply the grain, and some protein needs. You should also offer fresh fruits and veggies every few days. As well, you can give them meaty bones left over from your dinner, or just boil a bit of non-processed meat without salt or anything, and give them some of that. Goat milk is very healthy as well, but any other dairy product can be given in small amounts as long as it is low in fat, sugar and artificial ingredients.
