alpine vs. pioneer – I’ve done alot of research and pioneer gives more control, see details for my explanation
alpine’s hp cross over only drops to 80 hz, pioneer drops to 63 or 50 hz. pioneer offers 16 band eq, alpine offers a standard bass and treble control. pioneer offers full color display with downloadable pics and graphics, alpine does not. pioneer offers 5 volt preouts , alpine offers 4 volt. pioneer offers 12 db/6db phase control, alpine does not. pioneer offers sub level control for each frequency. I like alpine but pioneer gives you way more control of the sound. alpine dials theirs in to what they think it should sound like. I spent 3 hours yesterday at audio express looking at the headunits, pioneer wins the bad ass headunit award and the graphics were off the hook.
I have a pioneer in my car and it was more than worth the money. Personally I’ve never really likes alpine that much. With them you have to do it the way they want you to. Pioneer lets you customize what you want more.

AD22S Audio Delay $799 The Rane AD 22S is a fully balanced two-input, two-output Audio Delay unit designed for multiple applications, including speaker array synchronization and precision audio-to-video alignment. With two distinct modes, the AD 22S offers the functionality of dedicated devices within a single rack unit. Featuring a range of 2.00 to 999.99 ms, this unit provides delay displayed in units of time, distance, or frames. Use the dedicated Video mode to provide almost a full second of audio delay in 0.5 frame increments for all standard NTSC or PAL/SECAM frame rates. The AD 22S can operate as two independent channels or as a linked or stereo pair. Front panel controls let you choose settings for each channel that can be stored into two nonvolatile memory locations for quick and easy access at any time.
